About Cordyceps HIGHMILE22A
Cordyceps HIGHMILE22A is a high-altitude isolate of Cordyceps militaris selected for vigorous growth and exceptional bioactive compound production. Sourced from a high-elevation environment where wild Cordyceps naturally thrive, this strain brings the spirit of the Himalayan wild C. sinensis into a cultivatable, fast-fruiting package. For functional-mushroom growers and small-batch supplement makers who want a Cordyceps strain with a story — and the potency to back it up — HIGHMILE22A is a standout in any culture library.
Growing Notes
- Difficulty: Intermediate
- Preferred substrate: White rice or brown rice with nutrient broth; supplemented grain jars; liquid culture for biomass
- Fruiting temperature: 65–75°F
- Colonization speed: Fast
- Special considerations: As a high-altitude isolate, this strain tolerates slightly cooler fruiting temps and tends to produce dense, well-formed fruiting bodies. Requires light for initiation and high humidity throughout fruiting. Jar and tub cultivation both work well.
Functional Benefits
Like other C. militaris strains, HIGHMILE22A produces cordycepin and related nucleoside compounds studied for energy, stamina, oxygen utilization, and immune-modulating support. The high-altitude origin of this isolate makes it a compelling choice for growers formulating premium Cordyceps tinctures, dual-extracted powders, and functional supplement products who want a strain with a story behind it.
Usage Instructions
- Sanitize your work area, tools, and contact surfaces before handling.
- Prepare grain, substrate, agar, or grow kits according to your standard operating procedures.
- Introduce the liquid culture using sterile or near-sterile technique (e.g., in front of a flow hood or still-air box when applicable).
- Maintain species-appropriate incubation and fruiting conditions for temperature, humidity, and fresh air exchange.
Shelf Life & Storage
Store refrigerated at 34–39°F (1–4°C) away from direct sunlight. Under proper storage, typical shelf life is 3–6 months unopened. Always visually inspect for contamination, damage, or off-odors before use.
Quality & COA
Each batch is prepared using standardized procedures and test-inoculated on appropriate media before release. These internal checks act as our in-house Certificate of Analysis (COA) to confirm viability and cleanliness at the time of packaging.

How to Use This Liquid Culture
- Sterilize the injection port on your grain bag with an alcohol prep pad.
- Shake the syringe vigorously for 10-15 seconds to disperse the mycelium evenly.
- Inject 1-2cc of liquid culture through the self-healing injection port of your grain bag. Less is more — 1cc is usually plenty.
- Seal and incubate the bag at 70-75°F in a clean, dark space.
- Wait for colonization — white mycelium will begin spreading through the grain within 2-4 weeks.
Temperature & Timeline: Colonization typically takes 2-4 weeks at 70-75°F. Warmer is not better — temperatures above 80°F increase contamination risk.
Signs of Success: You'll see white, fluffy mycelium spreading outward from injection points. The grain will become covered in a uniform white coating when fully colonized.
Next Steps: Once the grain is fully colonized, transfer it to a bulk substrate or introduce fruiting conditions, depending on your setup.
Common Mistake: Injecting too much liquid culture does not speed up colonization — it wastes culture and can introduce excess moisture that encourages contamination. Stick to 1-2cc per bag.

Shipping & Storage
Shipping & Storage
All orders ship within 1-2 business days from our Colorado facility. Liquid cultures ship in insulated packaging to maintain viability. Store LC syringes in the refrigerator (35-45°F) until use. Grain spawn and substrate bags should be used within 2 weeks of delivery for best results. Ready-to-fruit blocks can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
Our Clean-or-Replace Guarantee
Our Clean-or-Replace Guarantee
Every liquid culture is test-inoculated on agar before release to verify purity and viability. If your culture arrives contaminated or fails to colonize, contact us within 14 days with a photo and we'll send a free replacement. No return required.

If this is your first grow, we recommend starting with a All-in-One Grow Bag or a Ready-to-Fruit Block — both are designed for beginners and require minimal equipment. For liquid culture use, you'll also need a grain spawn bag and a substrate bag. Check out our growing guides for step-by-step instructions.
