Inoculated Slant Tube — Blue Oyster
A pre-inoculated MEA slant tube containing a vigorous, clean culture of Blue Oyster (Pleurotus ostreatus var. columbinus) mycelium. Ready for transfers to grain, liquid culture, or agar plates. Slant tubes are ideal for long-term storage and maintaining genetic integrity of your favorite strains — compact, sealed, and built to last.
What It's For
- Long-term storage: Keep your Blue Oyster culture viable for months under refrigeration.
- Culture expansion: Transfer to grain or LC when you're ready to run a grow.
- Genetic backup: Maintain a clean master culture so you always have a reliable starting point.
Who Needs It
Serious cultivators who want to bank a specific strain, anyone doing agar work, and growers who want to maintain their own culture library instead of re-buying syringes every cycle.
Specifications
- Species: Blue Oyster (Pleurotus ostreatus var. columbinus)
- Media: MEA (Malt Extract Agar) slant
- Format: Single slant tube
- Status: Culture actively growing on arrival
How to Use
- Work in front of a flow hood or inside a still-air box.
- Use a sterilized tool to take a wedge transfer from the slant.
- Transfer to grain, LC, or fresh agar plates.
- Re-cap and refrigerate slant for long-term storage.
Storage
Store capped and refrigerated at 35-45°F for long-term culture storage. Culture can remain viable for 6-12 months under refrigeration. Let warm to room temperature before opening to prevent condensation. Inspect for contamination before use.
Quality & COA
Each slant is inoculated under sterile conditions and visually inspected for clean, vigorous growth before release. Representative slants are test-transferred to confirm viability.
How to Use This Agar / Slant Culture
- Work in a sterile environment — use a still air box or laminar flow hood. Sanitize all surfaces and tools.
- Transfer a wedge of colonized agar to a new agar plate or grain bag using a sterile scalpel or loop.
- Seal the plate with parafilm or tape to prevent contamination.
- Incubate at 70-75°F and watch for mycelial growth spreading across the new medium.
Uses: Agar plates and slants are ideal for strain isolation, expansion, and long-term storage. Slants are especially useful for preserving genetics in a compact, long-lasting format.
What's in the Box
- 5-pack of inoculated agar plates or slant tubes
- Sealed and sterilized for safe transport

Shipping & Storage
Shipping & Storage
All orders ship within 1-2 business days from our Colorado facility. Liquid cultures ship in insulated packaging to maintain viability. Store LC syringes in the refrigerator (35-45°F) until use. Grain spawn and substrate bags should be used within 2 weeks of delivery for best results. Ready-to-fruit blocks can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
Our Clean-or-Replace Guarantee
Our Clean-or-Replace Guarantee
Every liquid culture is test-inoculated on agar before release to verify purity and viability. If your culture arrives contaminated or fails to colonize, contact us within 14 days with a photo and we'll send a free replacement. No return required.

If this is your first grow, we recommend starting with a All-in-One Grow Bag or a Ready-to-Fruit Block — both are designed for beginners and require minimal equipment. For liquid culture use, you'll also need a grain spawn bag and a substrate bag. Check out our growing guides for step-by-step instructions.
